Landscaping Secondary Data and Research on the Interlinkages Between Child Labor and Education and Mapping Education Strategies
Recently, ERG signed a contract with UNICEF Office of Research (Innocenti), Florence, to undertake a study on child education and child labour. Beside analysing secondary survey data, a small-scale qualitative survey will be undertaken. In addition, the research team plans to review policies, identify innovative education models and consult different segments in the society to recommend education policies/programmes that will reduce child labour.
ERG has recently completed a study titled “Human Resource Development for Scaling up IT/ITES Firms, and Leveraging Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovations-An Assessment of Training Needs.

Job Description:
Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh
Engagement Period: Minimum 6 months (extendable up to 18 months based on performance and needs).
Research enthusiasts and emerging researchers are invited to send their applications to the Economic Research Group to engage in an upcoming study. The initial engagement will run for 6 months, with the possibility of extension depending on performance and alignment with ERG’s ongoing activities.
What you’ll do:
- Conduct data analysis using statistical software
- Contribute with original ideas and apply critical thinking to research problems
- Review and prepare briefs/reports/drafts and presentations in Bangla and/or English
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to ERG’s broader research initiatives
About you:
- Analytical skill with ability to think originally and critically
- Comfortable with quantitative/data analyses having exposure to statistical software
- Good writing and communication skills in English and Bangla
- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and with a team
Additional Information:
This is a project-based role with an initial provision period of 6 months. Depending on how work relations evolve, opportunities may open for longer-term affiliation with ERG.
