Concept Note on Nation-wide Survey to Measure Number of MFI Participants Graduating out of Poverty was submitted in October 2008.
Measuring movement out of poverty with supports from Microcredit Summit Campaign: the first paper by Sajjad Zohir with estimates on the number of MFI clients moving out of $1 a day threshold (click to view) has been submitted. Preparations are under way for a nation-wide survey.
Small Grants and Academic Partnership Program of IFC-BICF in collaboration with BMB Mott MacDonald, Netherlands led by Dr. A.K. Enamul Haque. team includes Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud,  Dr. Sajjad Zohir, Professor Salim Rashid, Professor Anis Chowdhury and Dr. Fahad Khalil
Impact of Price Increase on Poor Households and Children Wellbeing with supports from Save the Children UK will be undertaken by Mohammed Helal Uddin during October 2008 - January 2009.
Food Security for the Poor: Exploring Policy Options under Alternative Price Regimes a new study awarded under the National Food Policy Strengthening Programme (NFPCSP) has been initiated. The study will be led by Rushad Faridi with Syed Naimul Wadood and Kazi Sabbir Ahmed as co-researchers. Progress of the study will be posted regularly
Differences in Poverty levels and trends at sub-national levels. The study uses secondary data to explain differences, and a proposal has been submitted for financial supports

Economic Valuation of the Storm Protection Values of Mangroves forests under the coastal ecosystems of the Sundarbans Led By Sakib Mahmud. Advisors: Dr. Edward Barbier and  Dr. A.K. Enamul Haque. Study supported by SANDEE
Economics of Microcredit: from theory to practice. The paper on market structure in microcredit industry and interest rate. Three papers are being prepared.

PRS Bangladesh. The background paper prepared for Second Chronic Poverty Report 2007/08, CPRC, has been submitted to the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), London. The paper titled Implementation of Policies for Reducing Chronic Poverty looks into the problems of implementing pro-poor (particularly, chronic poor) policies in Bangladesh.

Programs and Approaches for the Excluded: ERG collaborated with Brac's Research & Evaluation Division in a study on Programs and Approaches for the Excluded. Exclusion and Poverty: an analytical approach for understanding exclusion and  assessing programs targeting the very poor in Bangladesh by Sajjad Zohir, Mehnaz Rabbani, Biva Arani Mallik, Iftekharul Huq and Raisa Afsana
Monitoring Support to Poverty Reduction Strategy in Bangladesh by the BWIs. The study, supported by the Commonwealth Secretariat, looked into supports provided by the IMF, the World Bank and other development partners  to Bangladesh's Poverty Reduction Strategy
Poverty Reduction and Environmental Management (PREM). The study was undertaken in collaboration with the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM), Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam. A number of research papers have been completed drawing upon the survey findings.
